National Convention LIONS - Bucharest 2013
On 17-18 May 2013, in Bucharest hosted the 19th National Lions Convention of District 124 Romania. Lions Club of Ploiesti was represented by six members.
On the afternoon of Friday 17 May 2013 was the last cabinet meeting for lionistic 2012-2013, at Sofitel hotel, Bucharest.
Saturday morning, May 18, 2013 has been dedicated to the National Convention, which held at the University Central Library Carol I, Bucharest. Many Lions guests from abroad gave speeches to convey their congratulations to the District 124 Romania, regarding actions and lionistic activities for the year ending in July. Also expressed their urge for continuing actions to volunteer in community service, by involvement and attract new members in the clubs and, also, the establishment of district new clubs.
Were presented reports of the lionistic cabinet members for 2012-2013, and all major LEO activities of the year ending, by the President of LEO, Silviu Vert. National programs were presented by the respective committee chairmen:
• Lions Quest - achievements until now of this program which awareness among young people about serious issues like drug;
• Camp Diham - participation every year of the children from lions outside the country, who were hosted for one week or two by the lions families in our country;
• Commission of vision protection - that presented everything which the clubs done on prevention and support people with visual impairments.
In the program was the traditional time of the exchange of flags between the Presidents of Lions Clubs from the country and Governor District 124 Romania - Paul Grecu, as well as awards and accolades for Lions clubs and members with the most achievements for the year. Two members of Club Lions Ploiesti received diplomas of excellence for their work at the district level.
Were followed the elections for leadership - District 124 Romania, for lionistic year 2013-2014. They began by supporting the candidature for the post of Vice Governor (VDG) I, VDG II and Governor. For VDG II there were two applications. Candidacy for VDG I was supported by Marius Popa who will be the Governor for District 124 Romania, next year. The candidacy for Governor in 2013-2014 lionistic year, was supported by Mirela Grigorovici, which will begin in function in July this year.
The post of Vice Governor II will be occupied in July 2013 by David Istvan of Lions Club Brasov.
All applications have been validated by the vote so, in the final we listened the new government program, the new organization and leadership for District 124 Romania and the place and data for cabinet meetings in lionistic year will begin. Lions Club Ploiesti will be represented at the national level in the lionistic year 2013-2014 by District Secretary - Ion Antonio TACHE and Chairman of Area - Cristian VISAN.
Saturday night was a gala evening in which Lions members around the country were doing well and were relaxed.
We thank our colleagues from Lions Clubs Bucharest for involvement in the organization of the most important lionistic event of the year, and we are proud that our club attended the convention organization, by sponsoring 500 euro.
