Lions Club Ploiesti support World Diabetes Day
Every year, on November 14, throughout the world marked World Diabetes Day. The role of this day is to draw attention to the importance of effective prevention and control for diabetes monitoring, given that this disease affects over 346 million people worldwide.
This day is marked at the internationally level by all Lions Clubs of District 124 Romania. Therefore, Lions Club Ploiesti not left inferior and, together with Prahova Diabetes Association, Association of Women in Ploiesti and Prahova Hall organized a free blood glucose test campaign, a campaign which took place at the Commercial Market Ploiesti, between 10 and 12, on November 14, 2012.
The event was a successful and applauded by the present people, who had the opportunity to check their blood glucose levels and be guided, when appropriate, to the Prahova Diabetes Association.
We managed to offer, I say, a bit of hope, health and optimism to no less than 240 persons from Ploiesti.
The mean age of participants was 65-70 years, but we had the surprise about the presence of persons at the respectable age of 90 years, who impressed us by the vitality and by the interest showed keen to their health.
Also, we cannot ignore the presence of people aged between 35 and 55 years, whose number was not large, but prove the increasing interest to early embrace the dictum Is easier to prevent than to treat.
To our joy, for the organizers, the number of people who have many problems, was small. No reported more possible patients, but they, along with those who already have the disease, were guided to Prahova Diabetes Association and to the hospitals, to establish their diagnosis.
In the evening of November, 14, the tour with clock from the Commercial Market Ploiesti, was illuminated in blue, for marked in this way the World Diabetes Day.
Despite the economic crisis and the inherent daily issues, we found that the people are interested in their health and try, if possible, to live a balanced life.
See you next year, healthy, optimistic and informed!
Until then,
Keep your blood sugar under control!
